Called To Serve
Liturgical Ministries
Is God calling you to Serve in a Liturgical Ministry? Each one of us has gifts that we were given by God. Gifts unearned, undeserved, yet freely given. Please prayerfully consider your gifts and how you are called to use them – we need you!
Pope Francis said, “The closer you are to the altar, the more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the Word and the Body of the Lord, the better able you will be to go out to other, bringing them the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the joy you have received”.
Please prayerfully consider signing up to serve in a Liturgical Ministry.
Lectors
Through this ministry, you will grow closer to the Lord and deepen your faith by proclaiming God’s Word to the community. As a Lector, you can learn to appreciate Sacred Scripture through the Old and New Testament readings at Mass.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (Eucharistic Ministers)
Feel God’s presence through the gift of service. Eucharistic Ministers have the privilege of assisting the priest and deacon by administering the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ to our brothers and sisters in the congregation.
Altar Servers
An Altar Server assists the priest and deacon on the altar during Mass. The ministry is open to children and adults who have received the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Why become an Altar Server?
- You can develop a deeper relationship with God.
- You will make a difference by serving and performing an important ministry.
- You will become a new leader in our parish.
Music Ministry
Love to sing? Do you want to serve with the gift of your voice? Please consider joining our choir as a cantor and/or a choir member. Members in this ministry serve by leading the congregation in prayer through hymns, songs, and psalms during Mass and special occasions.
Catechists and Children's Liturgy Leaders
Called to Serve? Catechists, substitute teachers, and Children’s Liturgy Leaders are needed to share their love of the Faith by teaching St. Rocco’s young disciples. The vocation of the Catechist calls one to serve by assisting families in teaching their children to know, love, and serve God through our Catholic faith, traditions, and values. Children’s Liturgy Leaders help children to hear and learn the Gospel at Mass through the Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) program.
Please prayerfully consider this vocation. Certain Safe Environment clearances are required through the Diocese of Allentown.
Organizations
Altar & Rosary Society
It is the mission of the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Rocco’s Church to promote the spiritual life of its members, to praise and honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, to secure her patronage by the recitation of the Rosary, and to promote her honor by performing activities under the Chaplain’s guidance.
